“Never Lose Your Wonder”

To the bright-eyed wonderers

Wandering on a pilgrimage here

With hearts so full of heaven

That their eyes shine with wonders

Even in the midst of the deepest dark.

To the stubborn hopeful ones

Who in the midst of despair can exalt

And sing as Paul and Silas did

In the midst of the prison cell.

To the ones who won’t let go

No matter what the world

Tries to throw in their way.

To those clinging to that last thread of faith

Praying those mountains be moved

By a mustard seed,

Never lose your wonder.

To the broken and the hopeless,

The ones lost in the black and the bleak.

The ones never sure of their words

Cause they’ve never been listened too.

To the traumatized and abused,

The ones who can’t shake memories

And struggle every night to sleep through nightmares.

To the anxious and afraid

The ones too timid to feel like they can make a difference,

Even when the difference they make is so great.

To the depressed

Who feel like they can’t move themselves out of bed,

Let alone move mountains.

To the ones who feel alone even in crowds

And feel drowned out by all the background noise of life,

Never lose your wonder.

When the black and the bleak

Drown out the colors of life,

When brokenness defines your every day

And hopelessness defines your nights

Never forget that there in the darkness

Light shines all the brighter.

Never forget that hopelessness lasted for three days

Until glory burst asunder from the grave as our savior rose.

When you can’t shake the memories,

And everything is a constant reminder of pain and heartbreak.

When scars seem so much more real than God,

Never forget the real scars born by the one

Who suffered the full wrath of God for us.

Never forget the God who is present

In every moment and every pain no matter how vast or deep,

For he is greater than any pain they have ever caused you

And his love runs deeper than any hate poured upon you.

When your mind rages against you

And you have to fight for every moment you’re awake.

When you feel like you haven’t done enough every day

Cause you spent half of it just trying to survive another moment,

Remember the God who sees you in your struggle and rejoices

Every moment you breathe another breath.

Breathe another breath,

Just breathe another breath.

Remember the God who fights for you.

Remember the great lion of Judah who stands with you.

Remember His might,

The might of the one who conquered death.

When life seems so much bigger than you

Remember the God who breathed life into you,

And when the world starts to chip away at the light behind your eyes,

Don’t let it.

Let the chorus cries of a sunrise echo in your heart as much as a single flower,

And let your wonder spill out as you cry out in defiant praise in the midst of a world lost in a constant pursuit of the next best thing.

Cry out, “I wonder in who you are Lord.

I wonder in the everyday and the monotonous.

I wonder in every moment others would take for granted,

Cause I know that that moment is granted to me by a creator who knows the intricacies and the glory behind even the most unimportant moments.

I praise you because you are glorified in what I deem as mundane.”

Let your hearts echo and your eyes reflect the wonders granted to you by a creator who is wondrous and worthy of wondering about.

Fix your eyes on the throne of grace,

And never lose your wonder.

- Sincerely, Will
